Report on Custom Field (tick box) - ACT!2008

Hi There,

 

We have set a tick box to show 'Live Customer Records' - I'm trying to run a Contact report showing just these details. I have tried numerous ways (edit a report / create one from scratch), but do not get the correct data out - Is it possible to add a Yes/No field and just report on that?

 

I have searched the forums, but it looks like Custom Reporting is not an easy exercise (VBScripts, etc.). We were looking to upgrade in the coming months to 2011, but the reporting side needs to work before we go forward.

 

Any help/advice would be great.

Without examining the report template, I can't off-hand think of any reason for the field not working in a report. I've added Yes/No fields to a number of reports both with and without VB scripting to control the display.

Thanks for the reply Roy.

 

All I've done is create New Template / Contact/ Empty Contact. I then add 'Field' in Detail section and select the custom field 'Live Record'. Properties of this field show as Yes/No data type, so I assume it's the correct format. However, I do not get any obvious options to filter using this field - Data Tab shows only 'Count' as an option and Format has 'Collapse if Blank' . Neither of these options have provided filtered results on just the Live Company.

With all due respect, what you describe would be a completely useless report. The most you would get is a string of either 0 and -1 or Yes or No depending on the version of the ACT! your are using. You would need something like the contact field added to make any sense of the content of the Yes-No field. Also the right click field properties don't need to be changed for the field to display.

This was just to show the report in it's most basic form - It still shows nothing! I tried editing a Contact report, but this still shows all companies, regardless of the tick box - I guess my question is how do i hide either the Yes or No companies?

Create a lookup of contacts before you runt the report.
