You can try simply unchecking attachments and emails and see if that eliminates them otherwise no there isn't any filter for that.

Histories are populated from several sources including cleard activities, letters and emails sent, etc. The best way to look at histories are that they are event orientated thus the type, time, and date information. Notes are more general and must be manually entered.

It depends on if the fields that have changed information is important to your history.
If the field changed information is not important to you, then you can change the field characteristic by unchecking the generate history box. Activities, however, will continue to be recorded. In a multi user environment, it may be important to manage "change management" to the db.
Go to: | Tools | Define Fields | ... Select the field that is creating the history ... | Edit Field | ... uncheck generate history ...
Save the change and field change information will not be recorded moving forward.
