Renaming a database

Is there a way to rename a database in ACT! 2010 without having to resave it, back it up, restore it, etc?

Thanks,

Re: Renaming a database

Hello Nancy,
Renaming the actual database files outright has been known to cause database damage. The best and safest way to rename your database is to go to File > Save Copy As, then save under a new name. Then open the database under the new name to connect it to the SQL Server. You can then delete the version with the old name by opening it and going to Tools > Database Maintenance > Delete Database (assuming you want to delete the original).

Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.

Probably goes without saying, but never ever rename the files and folders with Windows Explorer.  Always use the methond Greg specified.

Thank you.  I somewhat suspected that isn't advised.
