Remove group or subgroup

Hello,

I created a group based on a lookup and added contacts to the group from the lookup.

I then created 2 subgroups.

How do I remove a contact from the group?

When I looked on the groups/companies tab on the contact view, the group was not there.

I clicked  the "show dynamic membership" button and the group was listed there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Tracy

Re: Remove group or subgroup

Contacts can be attached to a Group in either 2 ways: Statically attached or Dynamically through criteria.

To remove a contact from a Group:

- go to the Group Detail screen

- click on the desired Group

- look in the Tabs area (lower left area) and select the Contacts tab

- click on the Add/Remove Contacts button

Determine if the contact is attached statically or dynamically.

If the contact is attached statically > you will click on the Contacts button in the 'Static Members' section and then move the contact from the right column to the left.

If the contact is attached dynamically > then they are attached because they meet the criteria set up for the Group.  To remove them from the Group you will need to change that Contact's record so that it no longer matches the criteria.

Re: Remove group or subgroup

Hi Greg,

What I figured out is that a group that is created from the result of a look up is considered a dynamic group. For whatever reason, I thought it would be a static look up.

Once I was able to figure this out, I knew how to remove contacts from the group in question.

thank you for your detailed instructions. I really appreciate it.
