Remote User Maintenance Responsibilities

Users are using network synch through VPN to synchronize. They have windows XP and the server holding the database is running Windows Server 2003.


We just upgraded to from previous 10 version.

There are 6 remotes databases, all were getting synch error messages after the upgrade and a few before. I purchased product support from ACT! Sage. Eventually we got them to synch by creating new remotes and our main database server SQL.


I suspect a part of the problem was the addition of 2k records and remotes not syncing for a month - so probably too many changes for the synch to handle.


One Act! Sage rep told me that the remote database users need to synch at least once if not twice per week. And they need to Check, Repair and Re-index their remote using actdiag on their machines. Also that they should have a synch schedule because two people syncing at the same time "could cause problems"


Does anyone else do this. I don't think my users are up to running actdiag, they'd have to open a cmd box and so forth.
