Remote Database Sync Outside Local Network

I upgraded from ACT 6.0 to ACT 2009 v11.  I do not have the premium version.   I have three remote machines that are setup with the subscriber database and one machine has a publisher database.   I have been reading about syncing over the internet and with network sync service.

With this configuration,  will I be able to synch the remote database across the internet if I am not on my local network?

Re: Remote Database Sync Outside Local Network

Yes but you get into things like needing a static IP address, etc. For most small operatings (less than 5 or 10) I still use Hamachi.

Re: Remote Database Sync Outside Local Network

Thanks for the prompt response.

What other options are available?  Would upgrading to the premium version of ACT 2009 also enable syncing over the internet outside of the local network?

Re: Remote Database Sync Outside Local Network

You can get by without a static IP (eg with things like DDNS) ... you will need to set up port forwarding on your router

To sync Premium over the internet, you might have a look at this ACT! Knowledge Base article -

http://kb.sagesoftwareonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17536

You can also do this with Application sync without Premium, but you need to have ACT! open and logged in when the remote wants to sync
