I get this error message when trying (after reinstall) to open my database "The computer could not be reached because the IP address "" could not be resolved. Verifying the computer is available on the network, that is has the correct IP address, and that Microsoft SQL Server is properly installed may resolve this issue."
Does anyone know what this means?
My host system has a fixed IP address. Other systems on the network can see my system. SQL Server is running (who knows if it is "properly" installed).

You may need to re-cretae the PAD file or change the information within the file, the following link should help.

Also make sure that Microsoft SQL Server Browser has also started.

Is this on a server or network connected PC?
If on a PC does try opening on the server?
If problem is on the server, rename .pad file .old
Now try opening ACT via the .adf file. (It will create a new .pad file.)
If problem only on PC and working on the server you may have a port blocking access
Can you open the ACTDEMO database? If yes then SQL is working correctly.
