Reinstall Act 2010

Just acquired a new laptop. Laptop was a remote of a desktop. (At least I thought it was.) Tried to restore from previous laptop...now sync is messed up. So tried to create a new remote database....desktop gives an error. So created a remote database with laptop and get an error in conflict on desktop. This is very frustrating.  I do not understand why I could not just restore  or copy over the files in the same directories and ACT would just carry on.  Of course there is no longer support for this version so I am probably screwed. Thought about just uninstalling from both machines....and doing clean reinstalls. But I was on hold for an hour with a license registering issue on the reinstall....so I don't want to go through that.

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

If you still have the original files from the old laptop, see the following knowledgebase article on how to retain synchronization when files are moved from one machine to another:

Re: Reinstall Act 2010

Shouldn't be that difficult, but I just saved a copy of the server database and went from there.  Eventually I got it up and running and the sync now works.

Thanks
