Protexis Licensing

Friends - I recently had to uninstall Act! 10 and reinstall from the disk and update from Act website. The program was running fine. I shutdown to go away for a couple of days, and now cannot start the program with an error message saying a required service is not running, Protexis Licensing, along with instructions to turn it on. Upon going to services.msc, Protexis Licensing is nowhere to be found. Now what?

Re: Protexis Licensing

Do you have a x64 Windows? If yes, ACT is not compatible with 64bits system...

If not, I think you have to re-install ACT. Something was missing during the installation...

No. Not on x64. I will try reinstalling the program. I thought I might be able to add the Protexis Licensing factor to the list. Thanks.

Re: Protexis Licensing

Just running a repair install from add/remove programs will reinstall the service for you - saves a bit of time from uninstalling/reinstalling

Re: Protexis Licensing

10.0.2 unfortunately does not allow repair

just be sure after uninstalling to delete protexis folders from the registry

deleted HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Protexis
deleted HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Protexis

reinstall and it'll put protexis back

If you're still having a problem with this, contact me via the Private Message area on this site... I have a little (unsupported) utility that should fix that Protexis issue.

Worked like a charm!  Ran this little app, and bing! App was good to go.

Hi Mike,

I seem to be having this issue also. Protexis is not running, and seems to no longer be installed, although the files are there. Do you have any insights... ACT premium for web 2008

Thanks,

Re: Protexis Licensing

Thanks Mike for the handy fix.  Installed it like you said and it worked great.  Now I can move onto other issues.
