Problems with transferring database

I am trying to transfer a database from my laptop running vista to my desktop also running vista. I have transferred all the data base files except for the ADF file. I have the PAD file transferred but for some reason when i go to copy the ADF files it says that the file is in use and cannot be transferred. I can't even copy the file to the desktop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Problems with transferring database

The ADF file is connected to the SQL server and the server would have to be stopped to copy the file. Why didn't you just backup the database in ACT! and do a restore as on the desktop machine?

Re: Problems with transferring database

Roy is correct...doing a backup and then using "Restore As" to restore the backup on the other machine is the easiest way to do this. But if you physically want to copy the database from one machine to another, then you can follow the instructions in KB Article 23392
