Problem with syncing

Here is the setup


1 computer at the office with the main ACT database on it. 1 field laptop, the laptop needs to come in once a week and sync with the PC.


I start the services and when I try to sync it tells me it cant find the connection and to make sure the services are started. 


My thoughts are the laptop not being on the same domain as the PC is having trouble talking over the network(laptop has win7 home so can't join domain)


any ideas?

Welcome to the Sage ACT! Community. Please provide some additional information so the Community can better assist you:
- What version/build of ACT! (from Help > About ACT!)?
- Is the version of ACT! exactly the same on both the main and remote machines?
- What is the exact error message?
- What type of connection is being used to sync?
