Problem migrating ACT from XP Pro computer to a new Windows 7 computer

[ Edited ]

I just purchased a new computer with Windows 7 Pro on it. I have Act! for Real Estate ver 11.1. I installed Act onto my new computer and mover my database to it as instructed in the following Knowledgebase article:

How To Retain Synchronization When the Publisher and/or Subscriber Database is Moved to a Different ...

On the new machine, ACT! is shutting down every time I try to start the program.

Windows 7 is not a supported operating system for ACT version 11.  You may need to upgrade to ACT for Real Estate v12

When it shuts down, are there any error messages? Do you have any addins you are using?

You may have a pluging in hte ACT plugins folder that is not win 7 compatible.

Re: Problem migrating ACT from XP Pro computer to a new Windows 7 computer

As far as addins and plugins, as I said in my first post, I did a new install from the ACT! for Real Estate v11 my original, download software onto this new Win 7 machine. I just copied the database as I was told in the link above. Then I just did the download and install of the ACT! for Real Estate v12 upgrade. So I don’t think it should have anything other than came with the software. It will not get past the login screen.

I get the follow dilagoe box;

ACT! for Real Estate has stopped working

Windows can check for a solution to the problem.

"then it give 3 options"

  •   Check online for a solution and close program
  •   Close Program
  •   Dsbug the program

"then it says View problem details"

AND UNDER "View problem details"

Re: Problem migrating ACT from XP Pro computer to a new Windows 7 computer

Problem - Act for real estate stopped working   !!!

Got it ! I got act for real estate working in windows 7 after spending a day uninstalling, googling etc... So simple,

right clicked on sage act icon on the desktop, - properties - compatibility - check the box for "run this program in compatibility mode for win xp"... apply - and all seems to work properly,,,,
