Have client(for now) that can not get ACT! 11.0 to work after installing ACT! add-on's; Egrabber/ResumeGrabberPro or Fill-Staff 10 For Recruiters.
Gets error msg= ACT! by Sage has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Dell pc XP srvc pk3. ACT! 6 also installed on his pc - firewall, antivirus/spyware stuff is disabled.
He downloaded ACT!11.0 fr web(not a cd install). Converted ACT!6 d.b= ok. re-installed all products several times=poopoo
ACT! 11.0 works until we install a Add-on product, then get the error msg mentioned above.
We uninstall the Add-on, ACT! starts working again. Were able to create a new ACT!11.0 test d.b..
Help -Calling all ACT! Brainiact's.- Over..

PS; Dear Sage Support;
Feel free to jump right in hear on this problem - We are trying to sell your products also. The more we sell, the more you sell.
Your help would be most appreciated.
We have Egrabber Support working on this problem.
We have Our ACC Programmer working on this problem.
We have other ACC's working on this problem.
I think our potential mutual customer has contacted Sage, but no one has felt it necessary to resolve this issue.
He is now almost ready to just stay with ACT!6.
How about you just call our still potential client/customer so you can sell him ACT! 11.0 -2009, then we can sell him our add-ons..
Call me and I will provide you with his contact info.
Again, your help would be most appreciated in this matter. Please Help us help you sell ACT! AND our add-on's.

Thanks Roy - Time will tell hopefuly what the problem was.
As to who/what caused the problem, we may never know.
If Sage did something with version 11.0, to hammer some of their add-on partners, then just who is responsible again? Maybe all of us?
Our over all goal at Fill Staff is to sell our add-on products and other bundled add-on products such as Egrabber and That Means Sage Sells More ACT! .....
I am using this forum to reach out to anyone, especially Sage that can help us sell 3 copies of ACT!11.0 and 3 copies of FS10PRO and 3 copies of Egrabber to a prospective customer, profitting 3 allied companies.
Unless a recent problem is resolved with version 11.1, we know version 11.1 will hammer add-on products using custom tables. yoweee.
In the past Sage has stepped up to the table to assist us and I hope they will this time. In the mean time, our patient prospect is allowing the rest of us to work diligently on this problem as he really wants a superior recruiting software product and was very impressed with ours.
We greatly value the opportunity to be a part of the ACT! world and hope Sage will come to our aid on this matter.
Great movie to watch is; The Devil and Miss Jones. The way we would like things to be. God Bless!
Cheers - FSB

The ACT! Online Community is here to allow ACT! users help each other, not for direct support from Sage. Sage does moderate the community and will periodically respond to technical questions and unanswered posts. Should you require an immediate response to technical issues, please contact support directly.
Are all of your ACT! 2009 clients having this issue? Do you get the same issue on your machine? I just finished installing ResumeGrabber Pro and ACT! (11.0) does not crash. So, try installing only ResumeGrabber and open ACT!. The uninstall ResumeGrabber and install the other addon. Basically try to narrow it down to see if its just one of the addon products or only when both are installed. I also recommend that you take a look at the logviewer.exe to see more detailed errors (C:\Program Files\ACT\ACT for Windows).

Yes Dave thank you for making that effort.
We have tried those suggestions and more. Was your attempt on a XP srvcpack 3 pc? or on Vista? the prospect has XP.
He also has ACT!6 installed. Reinstalled everything too many times.
Egrabber spent hours on the prob yesterday with no success either. Others have also spent hours/days now.
The instant Egrabber/Resumegrabberpro is installed, ACT!11.0 fails. Same with our products.
I guess we will have to throw in the towel if Sage is not interested in having this person and us as customers.
I just personally contributed to over 90-100 some post on this community forum as community service to aid those in need of ACT! solutions and now we are reaching out to see if anyone can assist us. One of my recent assist took almost 4 hours on a Sunday but we resolved your problem and I didnt even bill Sage. My $300 annual support plan does not cover this issue. I have used that plan once in 1 year to resolve your problem. That one question did not leave me feeling that the solutiion was worth $300. Sage wants me to pay them another $350 for a different annual support plan. So you can debug your own product at my yet additional expense. We did not change our products, but you do keep changing yours. Many folks have tried to resolve your problemed software in this case except for you guys, just so we can sell 3 copies of your software and 3 copies of ours and 3 copies of Egrabbers. Now how about some freekin help selling your stuff and lets dont make it personal.
The management at Sage may benefit from watching the movie; The Devil and Miss Jones.. Then many more will benefit from Sage.
I say this from a Corporate Trainers constructive point of view based on what I see and experience on this forum.
Sorry, I am used to working with different class of companies and my ethics are different. God Bless !
Perhaps you could call our prospect and tell him exactly why he should buy ACT! ?
Cheers - FSB(for now)..

We made some progress.
Egrabber discovered that having the ACT!11 Preferences/ Startup default view set to Dashboard instead of Contact or List view, caused the egrabber error condition. Now we are still trying to see why our add-on Fill-Staff 10 causes ACT!11.0 to crash as soon as the ACT! splash screen appears. FSB
