Are you typing in the correct user name? If you still have ACT! 2007 (9.0) installed, you can verify the user name by going to Tools > Manage Users.

I never had a user name or password on the earlier version. The upgrade is causing me the problem. Should have stayed with the older version.

I has the same issue - followed the directions to reset password, got to the last step (Finish) and the system froze.
I have no ideas if the new password took.
I am afraid to alt-ctl-del out of the application lest I log in and have password issues (i.e. the new one didn't take but the old one's not being accepted.
Suggestions?
