I was trying to add an email account using the wizard and obviously did something wrong as I am now locked out of one of the databases that I use. I can access the others alright but this one asks me for a user name and password, which I don't have. Has anyone else had this problem?

The E-mail Setup wizard should have no affect on your needing a password or not. If you were not previously asked for a password to open this database, it could be that the database is now in Suspect/Recovery status within SQL. You can check this through the Actdiag utility.
