I have created several databases in Act! 10.0. A couple of them appear to be .PAD files and a couple of them are .PAD files. I was trying to navagate from one database to another and I got this error msg. "The Database could not be accessed. In order to access this database, check your network connection and verify that your database server is available. It may be necessary to disable any firewall software on your computer." The problem is I am not running on a network, so that doesn't apply to me. Also, when I tired to open the same datatbase that is saved as an .ADF it then says that Act! is trying to verify the database then another error msg pops up saying that the name of the database is already being used and to choose another. I was trying to open the .ADF and did not click "create new".
Needless to say, I am at a loss. Can someone PLEASE help? Please?

You should only try to open the ADF file if you've had a problem.
Do the databases have the same name?
Are they in the same folder?
