Currently, when we open a new email in outlook and look for an address in the ACT! address book, Outlook slows to a crawl. It could take two - three minutes for the adrees book to come up. Then once and address is selected, another agonizing wait unitl you can complete the email. Any fixes for this??

I have seen this issue pop up previously although I do not believe it was with the builds that you have. If you also happen to know a rough time when this issue first began it may help. I would also like to know how many contacts that you have in Act, as well as the size of your database 'ADF/ALF' files.
To find the sizes you can see where your database is stored from 'Help > About Act! > Database information' Scrolling down in the 'Database settings information:' section should show you the Database file location and database log location which should be together. (if this is stored on your PC it may well be in the default location which would be like: C:\Users\Daniel.Horn\Documents\ACT\ACT Data\Databases)

This issue began upon installing ACT 18 on a new Win10 system. Existing database was remotely created and installed on system. Currently have 7055 contacts in database.

Thank you, they are not large to the point I would believe them to cause any problem. I have a large database on my system which appears to be having the same issue and have raised a defect for further investigation.
Would it be possible to try the steps below as a work around.
Remove all address books from Act!
Add a demo or test database into your address book.
Open Outlook and see If you see all 6 icons then close Outlook
Add in your main database and mark it as Default (Do not remove the test DB)
Open Outlook again to verify it has loaded correctly.

The 6 icons I refer to are within the Addin tab in Outlook, if they show 6 icons the address book is loaded correctly, just a quick way to confirm it.
Your second database should be fine to add.

So I followed the steps. the demo database loaded in nothing flat. My database still takes forever to load. And outlook still loads the demo database first, even though my database is marked as default
