Outlook SYNC NOT WORKING

Outlook 365/2016  Act! Pro Version 20.1.120.0, Update 7 Win 10 Pro

Add in is present in Outlook and I can add emails manually but not calendar items

 

@ tools>sync now 

4 dot sync screen pops up and quickly closes - and does not sync

 

Have opened both normal & as Admin - no difference

Hello,

 

If comfortable with Windows settings/administration, try an Office Quick Repair:

  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel
  2. Double-click Programs and Features
  3. Click Microsoft Office 365, and then click Change
  4. Select Quick Repair, and then click Repair. You may have to restart your computer after the repair process is complete.

Then double check:

 

Configuring Calendar Synchronization preferences

 

  • On the Synchronize Calendar tab of the Outlook Synchronization Preferences window, choose one of the following options:
    • 1-way: Sync Act! to Outlook - Activities created in Act! will synchronize to Outlook, but activities created in Outlook are not synchronized back to Act!
    • 1-way: Sync Outlook to Act! - Activities created in Outlook will synchronize to Act!, but activities created in Act! are not synchronized back to Outlook
    • 2-way: Sync Act! and Outlook with each other - activities created in Act! will synchronize to Outlook, and activities created in Outlook are synchronized back to Act!

    Note: If you choose either of the 1-way sync options, skip to step 4 of this section.



  1. If the same activity has been updated in Act! and Outlook, choose whether to Keep the Act! activity, Keep the Outlook activity, or Keep the newest activity
  2. When an activity is cleared in Act!, choose whether to Leave the activity on the Outlook calendar or to Delete the activity from the Outlook calendar.
  3. Click Advanced Preferences…
  4. Ensure that there is a checkmark next to each Act! Activity Type you wish to synchronize to Outlook
  5. Select the number of days in the past you wish to synchronize activities for
  6. Select the number of days in the future you wish to synchronize activities for
  7. Under Specify where activity alarms will ring, choose one of the following:
    • Ring activity alarms in Act! - alarms will only display in Act!
    • Ring activity alarms in Outlook - alarms will only display in Outlook
    • Ring Activity alarms in Act! and Outlook - alarms will display in both Act! and Outlook
  8. Click OK to complete Advanced Preferences
  9. If you wish to also synchronize Contacts and/or configure Automatic synchronization, proceed to the sections below, otherwise click OK.
  10. After clicking OK, once prompted if you wish to synchronize Act! and Outlook, choose either Yes or No, depending on if you want to go ahead and synchronize

Did not work.

 

Next i guess is uninstall

 

darn I am an independent Financial advisor, I've had to spend way too much time learning about act and trouble shooting

You might try running both ACT and Outlook as administrator to see if it then works correctly.

 

To run a program as administrator right click on the icon and select run as administrator.

Hi Tom,

 

Hard to say what your problem might be, but my inclination would be to do the following:

 

Check your Outlook account configuration. Do you have more than one account set up in Outlook? 

Modify your Act preferences to delete and then add back your Outlook Sync Preferences to try to isolate what works and what doesn't
