Working in ACT Premium 16 and would like to add a button in the status box in the basic opportunity layout. We use the opportunity window to send customers part numbers that they can order so it is just for information only and not a true opportunity. I would like to be able to filter those out later if needed or run reports that would not have these opportunities in the report.

I'm just guessing, there are probably at least two ways to achieve desired results?
The Status Box is a system field thingy.
What about using Quotes ?
Seems like you would want to use the Opportunity Products Services Tab to Add your product/inventory items?
Perhaps a Single Opportunity could be used for this purpose?
You could also consider adding a new field and applying that to your Opp Layout?
You might consider adding a Item to your Stage(Process/Stage) such as Price Quote.

The easiest way is to set the opertunities to inactive.

could I change Inactive to "Inactive/Info only" to help some of our people get it correct?

You might consider adding a new yes/no field and applying it to the opportunity layout?
Label it: Inactive/Info Only

No, those are built into the program, it would mainly give you a way to filter those oppertunities. I would suggest that you add that information to the oppertunity name to make it noticible.
