Opportunites in ACT 2010.

Just upgraded to ACT 2010 from ACT 2008.  Significant changes to the way Opportunites are created and edited.  So far I don't like it.  When I create a new Opportunity, I enter a name (quote number) which is accepted.  The problem comes with adding/creating a product.  What I need to do is have the ability to have a part number that is not tied to a selling price, and then be able to manually add a selling price, or alternately manually add a total value for the opportunity.  It seems as if the only way to add a product to the quote is to edit the product list, and assign a selling price.  Is there a way around this "feature" because frankly it really hurts the functionality of the product for my requirements.
