Opening Act! 2011 database in ACT! 2010

I was wondering if I send a copy of a database made in 2011 to a person using Act 2010 will it open correctly? We will not be sharing the database. I simply built it for him and he will be the user.

If this is possible,

Can someone tell me which functions are different between the two to minimize the loss of functionality when he recieves it back?

Thanks

Act! 2010 will not be able to open a database created in Act! 2011.  The databases are not backward compatible.

If you only need to get the contact data to him, you can use the File > Export > Text Delimited option to create a file the he can then import.  Here is an article with instructions for using the Export feature: KB Article 13882

Thank you for the imput, It is not only the data that he needs. I also have Act! 2008 installed on a cpu here. If I build the database in 2008 would this work for him to restore in ACT! 2010

Hello Bob,
Yes, he would be able to open the 2008 database in 2010, but it would be converted up to 2010 in the process. This means it could not be opened in 2008 again.
