I am using Vista and Office 07, I am trying to select Outlook as my e-mail system and Word as my editor. I guess what I'm trying to do is integrate ACT with the Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Outlook Calendar and Word, that I have grown accustom to. ACT literature states this can be accomlished but when I go to Set-up E-mail, Microsoft Outlook is not listed as an option as stated in the ACT mannual. The only option is Internet Mail, thus I am stuck.
ACT! 2008 or 2009, nothing earlier. I don't know where you are getting your information but ACT! 2008 was better than ACT! 2006 and ACT! 2009 is better than both. ACT 2005 did have a lot of problems but most were resolved by ACT! 2006 and later.
For starters, ACT! 2009 has been available since September. Act 2008 versions 10.0.1 and 10.0.1 did have install problems that were traced to a file handle leak in Microsoft's .NET Framework. This problem was especially bad if you were running a minimum spec system, XP Home or used Trend Micro antivirus. ACT! development made modifications to the install to reduce the number of file handles required at 10.0.2 to avoid the .NET Framework file handle leak. Some systems, again the ones listed before, running 10.0.0 or 10.0.1 could experience resource depletion during normal operation, Again, most of those problems were resolved at 10.0.2.
