Object Reference Not Set --- EMail With Outlook Fails

My eMail doesn't seem to be interfacing well with Outlook.  I'm getting the Object reference not set ... message.

My environment:

Windows 8.1

O365 2013 (32 bit)

ACT! Premium 2015 (V17)

UAC - Never Notify

Outlook shows the correct ACT DB in its address book

Suggestions?

Re: Object Reference Not Set --- EMail With Outlook Fails

Thank you Gary for the help.

The problem is resolved.

Turns out that both ACT! and Outlook must have the same administrator level at the same time.

I was running ACT as an administrator but not in Outlook.  When the two were made the same the ICON started working.

I still am curious as to why clicking on the eMail link itself worked but not the icon.

The support rep said he would send the knowledgebase article which describes this.  Once I get it, I will update this message.

[ Edited ]

Hi,

If you get the message when you try to writhe a new e-mail out of act please perform the following stepes:

  1. Close out of Act! and all Microsoft Office programs
  2. On your keyboard, press the Windows key + R
  3. In the Run dialog box, type cmd, then press Enter
  4. In the Command Prompt, type the following based on your Operating system and version of Act! and then press Enter:

    32-bit
Act Pro or Act! Premium: cd C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Windows
Act! Premium (access via web): cd C:\Program Files\ACT\Act for Web

    64-bit
Act! Pro or Act! Premium: cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT\Act for Windows
Act! Premium (access via web): cd C:\Program Files (x86)\ACT\Act for Web
  5. Type regsvr32 redemption.dll and press enter
  6. When prompted, click OK, then close out of the Command Prompt
  7. Launch Outlook and Act! and test clicking the contact's email address again

If this wasn´t the fix for your problem maybe you can find it here: http://kb.swiftpage.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/24350/kw/Object%20reference%20not%20set

Best Regards

Re: Object Reference Not Set --- EMail With Outlook Fails

So I'm not sure it wasn't working to begin with.

I clicking on the "E-mail"  eMail.JPG icon on the top row of the program and then receive the error message.

However, if I click on the eMail address itself, it opens the Outlook eMail screen just fine.

Is there a way to fix the "E-mail" icon?

Have you re-registered redemption.dll as David suggested above?

Re: Object Reference Not Set --- EMail With Outlook Fails

I've refreshed my laptop by having the HDD wiped clean and re-installed.  Even ran the redemption.dll with success again.

Unfortunately, the icon click gives the error but clicking on the actual eMail address works.

Guess I just won't use the icon, unless you or another learned guru has an idea.

Re: Object Reference Not Set --- EMail With Outlook Fails

We've seen similar things with Windows 10 and Office 2016, but not this combination. We’d need to investigate further into your environment. Would you be able to give our technicians a call on 866 873 2006?

Re: Object Reference Not Set --- EMail With Outlook Fails

ACT! Premium 2016 v.18

ACER Windows 10 64 Bit & Outlook 2013

So I am having the same issue with this e-mail error.  When I tried running the redemption.dll I get the attached error.  What I mainly wanted ACT to do, in addition to launching an Outlook e-mail, is to log the activity as "Sent e-mail".

Thank you all for your help.

Re: Object Reference Not Set --- EMail With Outlook Fails

The redemption.dll file is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Act\Act for Windows.  You need to register it from there.

Got it.  I missed the cd command.  Thanks Stan. I will give it a shot.
