What version / build of ACT! are you using? ( click on Help / about )
ex: Sage ACT! Pro 2011 Version 18.104.22.168, Hot Fix 6
What operating systems?
Are you single user or multiuser / sharing database ?
Need more detail info re your exact problem.
Are you missing your Contact Detail Toolbar? rite click in an area that will show you your toolbar options
area right next to the Help options , in blank space, rite click and select Contact Detail Toolbar?
