in most cases this is a filter issue, i would recomend to disable all filters, select all users, and probably they will show up again.
if not, then i would make a backup of the database, then run the rebuild/reindex via ActDiag. if this is also not helping you would have to look for a database repair, this is done by us and other ACC´s or swiftpage

I can find the notes if I do a search from the view tab-my note are still in the system but the lower half of my screen is the grey screen and I cannot find a way to give me access to looking at the notes I have put in-but as I said when I do a search from the view tab them come up.

You should see a Date filter and a Users filter right at the top of the Notes tab. You can also right-click on the Notes tab headers to view the Filter Notes.
