Not Responding

When I open Act 2008 version 10, it opens quickly, but when(i think) the activities start to load Act becomes unresponive for up to 15 minutes, before becoming responsive again.  HELP! Smiley Sad

Re: Not Responding

Remember to always Backup your ACT!1 Database Daily and before making major changes.

Having said that I feel quite confident about my lack of knowledge with this specific situation.

Have you tried re-booting your pc?

There could be several pc related things causing this delay in response so without knowing more specifics here is what I would try.

If it is a ACT! related problem;

 Run

ACTDIAG

Click on Database

Right mouse click on your database in question and you have various Repair options such as

Repair database

Reindex

etc..

And the Various Rebuild options such as

Rebuild Schema

etc..

Re: Not Responding

Thanks for the input, Bill.  I have tried everything you mentioned and then some.  I have the same problem when I try to access my calender, very frustrating.  Have you found Act to work fairly seemlessly for yourself?

[ Edited ]

Yes ACT! 6 and 10 have worked very well.

I jumped from version 6 to 10 over a year ago.

How much Ram does your pc have? at least 2 gig ?

What is your processor speed?  at least 2 gig?

Have you checked your pc performance to see if some application is hogging pc resources?

Do you have more than one ACT! database?

What if you create a new  EMPTY ACT! database ? does it have the problem?

Re: Not Responding

Are you doing automatic rollover of the activities? If so, how many activities are you rolling over? How many activities are scheduled for one day?

Re: Not Responding

All of my activites have the "Automatically roll over to today" check box, as unchecked.  All of my activities have the "Default to timeless" check box, as checked.  Not sure if activities are rolling over.  This morning I had 5 activity alarms scheduled.
