New Act! User... Question regarding Contact Entry for a couple

Hoping someone can help this new user.  I am entering all of my clients into the database and am wondering how to enter my married clients. Any advice?

One way that would work is if you make a Prefix for Mr & Mrs and blank out the christian name for both.

Re: New Act! User... Question regarding Contact Entry for a couple

Enter them as normal, then just relate them by clicking on the relationships tab in the contact detail view.

Got it. Thank you!

Do you have a suggestion for mailing a Mr. & Mrs. letter?

Re: New Act! User... Question regarding Contact Entry for a couple

There are several ways to do that. First it would be best to enter one person as the contact and enter the first name of the spouse in the spouse field. This puts all the necessary information in a single record. The merge templates get trickier and my require more than one template depending on the level of flexibility required. One method is to use the salutation field to enter the specific greeting you want and then use that field in the template rather than the contact field.

I like the concept of having one record instead of two. Thank you!

How do I enter the name prefix?  I see it in the "relationship" tab but do not see where I enter the data.

Re: New Act! User... Question regarding Contact Entry for a couple

If you cannot see data in the relationship tab prefix column, it is normal as you cannot set or see a prefix from there.

Just make sure the prefix is set in the actual field. You can remove the prefix comlumn from the relationship tab by clicking the options button over to the right and clicking "customize columns".
