Need to reset SQL Server or ACT will not load

Need to reset SQL Server (ACT 7) from SQL Server Configuration Manager frequently or ACT will not load.

Version 11.1.183.  When we first upgraded from ACT 6 I had to do this every couple of weeks.  Now I have to do it a couple times a week or ACT just hangs when users try and open the program.  I seem to especially have to do this on Mondays (after inactivity during the weekend).  Boss is getting rather cranky about this since he logs in from home on Monday's before I'm here to restart the service.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running backup software that is shutting down SQL but not restarting it?

What messages are in Windows Event Viewer at time of shut down?

Yes!  That may be the problem.  After I posted this I was going through the event viewer again and I saw this:

I wasn't aware, as you seem to indicate, that BackupExec needs to shut down SQL in order to back it up?  Any chance you happen to know how I go about fixing this in BackupExec?

The sa password utility is required if you are running Backup Exec, or alternatively write a script to start and stop the SQL instance either side of backup running.
