Need help with backing up my database on Act 20

I have a single user copy of Act pro Version 20.0.

How do I make a backup of my database which I could then open on a different computer?  I'd like to start making copies once per month just in case something happens to the laptop I am using.

Please help.  Thanks.

From the menu

File|Backup|Database

You can restore it on another computer with Act

File|Restore|Database (Restore As)

You can save your backup to an external device (such as a USB stick or drive).

So the file restore would create a new database on my computer?  Is that correct?

Just a little reminder:

Restore only allows you to create the db on the same computer.

Restore As allows you to create the db on a new computer, but you have to change the name.

Of course if the name is really important, then after it is has been created with a new name, create a backup and then restore as with the original name from the old computer.

Re: Need help with backing up my database on Act 20

Just a thought.

If you are able how about making a sync copy of the database on a 2nd machine. That way each time you sync you would be backup the database onto the 2nd machine so if it went wrong you have an instant recovery way of continue working.

This is a link on how to do it although the article is for an older version all works the same.
