My DB is gone, replaced with ACT9demo

I have just one Act 9 db, called Friends, store on my local Windows XP PC. Recently I decided to open the Act 9 Demo database just to see what was in there. Now, whenever I try to open my Friends.db, I either get the demo db or a message like, "The database Friends could not be accessed. In order to access this database, check your network connection and verify that your database server is available. It may be necessary to disable any firewall ..."

I get the message when I open Friends.pad (a 1k file), and the demo db when I open Friends.ADF (30mb)

 

The strange thing is that I have gone back into my last few Friends db backups, all created before I touched the demo db, and they have the same problem. I feel like I am losing my mind!

 

An earlier posting suggested checking if the 'SQL Server (ACT7)'  has started, and yes it has.  I am running Windows XP

 

Any suggestions?
