Multiple e-mail fields in ACT 2012

I'm trying to add a 3rd e-mail field in my ACT database other than the two default e-mail fields, E-mail and Personal E-mail.

 

I create the field in the define fields window, but when I select e-mail as the field data type, the 'customize field behavior' options "gray out" and are not accessible.

 

When I click finish I receive the following error message,

 

"TBL_PICKLISTITEM_TRI1: This field exists in another view.  Address, e-mail and Phone fields must be unique.  To continue, give this field a new name.

 

The transaction ended in the trigger.  The batch has been aborted."

 

I do not have this field anywhere else in the database.  I have renamed the field and get the same error message.  Can you only have two e-mail fields in the ACT database?

I have seven in mine, so no...

 

You have something else going on there.

there is likely an Email field in groups or companies with the Email field name you are trying to use. Have you tried a different name to see if that works?

Hi Roy,

 

1.) Have tried changing the name of the e-mail field and get same error message.

2.) E-mail field is not being used in Company or Groups or anywhere else for that matter.

Try running the Tools > Database Maintenance > Check and Repair option. If this doesn't resolve it, open the ACT! Demo database and attempt to create an e-mail field within it - successful or not? This will help determine if the issue is database or program specific.

I think that changing the name after it is created is not necessarily a fix because I think that internally the name does not change, just the label that the user sees.

Did the database maintenance, which I do routinely with back-up.  This didn't change anything.

 

I was able to add the e-mail field in the ACT! Demo database.

 

Something 'hinky' with my database.

Try running the database repairs in ACTdiag.

Database repair in actdiag did not work.  I think i'm going to have to open a case.

ACT! has opened a case to fix this problem.  KB 30359, but they haven't posted it yet.
