Multiple Documents

has anyone experienced this I have 1 computer in the office that will not open multiple documents in ACT V17 Pro, I logged in with a different user to see if it was something with the 1 user profile and still same issue

What is your complete version ?  reference ACT! / Help / About

The version used is Act! Pro Version 17.0.151.0

 

All other computers in teh office can open multiple Act documents except 1 machine

Hey Rudy,

 

I'm glad you mentioned you have multiple act pc users.

First

all pcs using act must be running same version.

that gets us to the download center http://www.act.com/support/downloads/act-pro-v17/

Manually apply any updates/service paks /hotfixes as needed. You are not running most current ..

 

Also recommend runiing ACTDIAG on your problemed pc

Close act

Start / Run / ACTDIAG

select desired database from listing

rite click button to left of db name

select rebuild database options / 1st 3 but not the delete accounting links option.

 

Also Manually Check for windows updates

including a look at the optional items as sometimes MS puts a required update in the optional area.

this still did not work, I even tried an uninstall and then reinstall

Act will let a user open Multiple Act Word Processor files correct

Because this is specific to a single workstation, it's likely NOT a problem with the ACT! program. Have you tried a different Windows login to see if the problem is the same? You might try rebuilding the user's Windows profile.

OK so you can open multiple act! word processor docs ok but the prob seems to be with your ms word docs.

Are you receiving any error messages? if yes please post details. perhaps a .dot template error message?

I'm guessing - Not a ACT! Problem?

There are no error messages and they are using the ACT processor not the Microsoft word one

Here is what I would try next

Do you still have same problem opening multiple word docs with ACT! CLOSED ?

Do those multiple word docs then also Close ok without any problem?

If you still have prob with ACT! Closed, the prob is not ACT!..

Still have prob?

Close out of all applications

Start / Run / %temp% and hit enter

Delete those temp files in your user temp folder. ( note: maybe 1 or 2 of those files may not want to delte and that is ok, ust skip them).

Then Delete your temp internet files?

Then run ScanDisk,  ex:  go to my computer / locate  your c-drive and and rite nmouse click your c-drive icon and select Properties,

  Tools Tab/ Check Now, schedule and renote pc so the scandisk can run while booting.

Hopefully that will resolve your Ms Office / Word problem.
