Mozilla Thunderbird?

Anybody using Mozilla's Thunderbird with ACT! 2009? Just curious as I have been experiencing intermittent problems with Outlook as my email client, at the moment I can send but not receive in Outlook? I switched to Outlook because of problems with Outlook Express.

I use Yahoo as our webhost and one of their techs suggested Thunderbird as a reliable option to Outlook for email.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird?

Sorry, there is no current option to link Thunderbird to ACT!.

You might post a request for this feature to be considered for a future version here - http://www.act.com/community/feature

Input from this web page goes directly into a database that management has direct access to read, and which they also track and gather statistics on.

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird?

Mike,

Thanks for the come-back on the Thunderbird question. I will do as you suggest and post a request for future.

Another question: Apple and ACT!

I have been using ACT! since it was a DOS program back in the late 80's. At one time they had an Apple/Mac version. I am in need of a newer notebook and considering a Mac. I know I can run windows within Apple, but was just wondering what happened to the ACT!/Apple version?

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird?

Not enough MAC users in Sales and Marketing ... so Symantec dropped the MAC version.

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird?

Is it possible to use any other than Microsofts horrid email these days, such as Thunderbird or some other other reliable one?

Otherwise great product.   I have Act 2011.

Thanks folks

Sorry, Outlook is the best option at this time ...

This article might help word the request to make it easier for management to look at it:

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird?

Outlook is not an option on our machines under any circumstances.   What an edsel.   I just won't use that feature.   Support real email someday Sage!

Thanks for the response!

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird?

You can use ACT!'s Internet Mail client ... but only connects on POP3 110 and SMTP 25 (no SSL)

If using Win XP, it will work with Outlook Express (a bit limited)

ACT! 2012 also has some basic links to Gmail (like recording history when sending) ... but not full email to send/merge

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird?

Thanks!    I just won't be using ACT! for email at all.    I might upgrade when they support more common and reliable email clients.

Re: Mozilla Thunderbird?

Make sure you post to the share Idea area as per my post above ... I'd guess the reason it's not there is that they haven't had enough requests and don't think enough ACT! users would use it.
