Moving Database Files to another pc - ACT! by Sage 2009 (11.0) Version 11.0.0.367

Hi,

I've had a motherboard failure on my pc that has Act! and all its datafiles.

I've now got Act! up and running on another pc.

I will connect the hard drive from the dead computer to this one so can re-access all the files fairly easily.

Had a look around the forum to see if I could find a thread outlining the steps involved from there to get fully functional once more. Unfortunately the most promising post led to a dead link on the sage website Smiley Sad.

Can SKS point me in the right direction.

Tx

Rob

The simple way is to simply copy all the database files from the old hard drive to the new.

Before copying stop SQL ACT7 instance.

Once copied rename the .pad file to .old.

Start the ACT7 instance

Open ACT - Go to File - Open/Share database - Browse for Database and select ACT Database .adf option.

Click on the .adf file and ACT should now open on the new hard drive.
