Move ACT! v17 software to a new laptop

I'm moving one of our ACT! Pro v 17 users to a new laptop and need to move his ACT install and license to the new laptop.  He is one of a group of 6 with the same serial number.

I have a copy of ACT! v17 already here.  Both machine are running windows 7 pro and database is kept on a server.

Thank you

Re: Move ACT! v17 software to a new laptop

Hi Al,

You can find a Knowledgebase article on installing Act v17 here: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/37898
After the installation, you simply need to enter the same serial number to activate the software, then connect to the database on the server.

If you are connecting to the database via a shared database over a network, follow the steps under "Setting Up the Workstations" in the following Knowledgebase article: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13878
If you are using remote databases that that sync, follow the steps under "Creating a remote Database" on the server in the following Knowledgebase article: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14116
