Month must be between one and twelve. Parameter name: month

Two weeks ago I suddenly received this message under my admin account when accessing the activities tab or trying to clear activities.  I have been told by Sage support that this is a sign of database corruption and they will do what they can to help but if an import into a copy of the database does not work  there is nothing else they can do.. I have spent literally days trying to fix this and the adivce I have been give gives me cause for concern.

I have tried all sorts of things including the following:

1. Export the records: this does not work because the export maps are blank and the contact records are number 99999

2. Create a new admin user then delete and reassign my admin records to the new user.  The database times out.

3. Create a blank copy of the database, replicate the user accounts and import all records into the new database.  This fails towards the end: ACT! stops working.

I have also run database maintenance and removed old opportunities and actiities. I can create new activites.

Sadly the advice given in http://community.act.com/sage/board/message?board.id=Prem&message.id=7152&query.id=543444#M7152  has not worked for me.

I have spent days on this when I should be working.  This is on a par when I upgraded to v10 and spent a whole week on the phone to support with SQL problems.

Has anyone else had this problem?  The database is about 400Mb in size with 10K contact records.

Any advice gratefully received.

You mentioned you ran database maintenance, but how did you do this?

Using Tools/ Database Maintenance, prob no worky.

Use this process

Close ACT!

Run/ACTDIAG

Use the Rebuild options.  (Rebuild Schema, etc...)

Let me know if you need more info.  Cheers- FSB

Re: Month must be between one and twelve. Parameter name: month

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the response. I used ACT! Diag and used the rebuild etc options (Sage support stepped me through this) before creating a copy of the database and trying to import the records.

If I do a lookup for contact actitivity over the last week it pulls up 154 records (seems right).  If I do the same for the last two weeks it pulls up 9000!  Something is up with dates a week or so ago.

Re: Month must be between one and twelve. Parameter name: month

That's interesting.  This eventually was solved by Sage support in the UK who tracked it down to one recurring appointment that apparently was related to Outlook.  It required edting the SQL tables to fix.

Re: Month must be between one and twelve. Parameter name: month

THanks for the quick response -

I think I have had this before - and I think that deleting all outlook calendar entries and then re-synchronizing fixed it.

But this time this does not work, now...

 - I cannot see ANY activities in my "Activities" tab,

- there are no entries  in the calendar view,

.

This has turned ACT into a fancy address book

What do I do now? (I have tried schema rebuild etc, and various other things as suggested)

Thanks for any suggestons

Re: Month must be between one and twelve. Parameter name: month

Hi Chris,

I can't remember all the steps, but what I had to do was go into the SQL tables and delete entries for just one contact.  It was a repeating diary entry.  I spent days on it (probably close to a week in total lost time) backing up, restoring, creating a new user etc but nothing worked.  Your problem sounds very similar indeed to mine so I think that unless you know your way around the SQL tables (back everything up first...) I would contact Sage.

If you are in the UK contact support and speak with Russell who saved the day for me.  Sage should give him a pay rise. He was extremely helpful, unlike the customer service department.

My experience of ACT! is that you need to have a support contract to cope with situations like this.  Also back up daily.  What I now do is run a Windows scheduler to stop the ACT! service and back the lot up with Retrospect at night, then the scheduler starts the service in the morning.  The built-in ACT backup is no good if you have a big database.

Re: Month must be between one and twelve. Parameter name: month

ACT support have still not got anywhere with this - and suggest that I use the data repair service. A very expensive option which I shall not take up.

I think that ACT should have at least one of ...

(a) proper validity checks when importing data (from whatever source), or

(b) identify the meeting causing the error in the error message, or

(c) manage to display all remaining (correct) meetings

But it does not.

This means that another long-term user is forced to stop using ACT. A shame...
