Merging Two ACT Databases

Hi, would appreciate if someone can point me to some documentation on how to merge two ACT databases that are

1. Different versions - 2009 and ACT 6

2. Both are multi users

3. Both have different screen layouts and user defined fields

If the screens and user defined fields are difficult, we can forget about these, we mainly want to be able to merge all the contact records, calendar entries, histories, users, documents etc.

Thanks in advance

Re: Merging Two ACT Databases

The basic answer is to convert the ACT! 6 database to ACT! 2009 otherwise they can't be combined as you want.

Re: Merging Two ACT Databases

Thanks Roy.

Just found out the versions are actually 2009 and 2010.

When merging databases, will custom screens, reports and user defined fields from the source database be merged into the target database? e.g. the Personal tab in both databases are competely different, what will this tab look like after the merge?

Thanks

Re: Merging Two ACT Databases

No they won't. You will also need to convert the 2009 database to 2010 to import. You'll find that most custom things (layouts, templates, etc.) from the source database won't work in the target database.
