Merging Fields will not display in my template

Hello Act Forum

I have searched for this issue around the forum and did not find an answer:

In the Act database there are several fields that have a drop-down menu.  Some fields have options represented by short words, that correspond to longer definitions (for example FL would mean Florida)

When I use this fields in a template for a mail merge operation, and I want the long word to be printed or emailed, I can only get the short word printed.

I was expecting that when I created a template and used a field with this type of data, I could chose from printing the short word or the long word.

Does any one know if there is a way out?

I use the latest version Act 10.0.3 with its hotfix.  I am trying to run the mailmerges with the act word procesor.

When you do a merge it uses the data from the database not the dropdown as this is only used for data entry. You could do a lookup and search and replace to correct the entries before attempting the merge again
