Merging 2 databases into ONE!

Hello!

I have Sage ACT 2012, and I want to merge 2 databases into 1.

THe only directions I have found are for older versions of ACT; do you know where there are current directions for merging databses for ACT 2012?

Also, I am performing backups for both of my databases and one copies and/or backs up just fine, but the other database does not and I receive an odd message saying it has been cancelled, and some duplication syn.syncmkfj,...... something very strange. Any clue on this?

Re: Merging 2 databases into ONE!

You should fix the error first ... would need the exact error to help.

Don't do the merge till BOTH database are backed up

As to importing one db into another, see this ACT! Knowledge Base article -

Re: Merging 2 databases into ONE!

"The following error occurrec during backup. The backup was cancelled.

Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'sys.syscommittab' with unique index 'si_xdes_id'.

Failed to fluch the commit table to disk in dbid 8 due to error 2601.

Check the errorlog for more information.

BACKUP DATABASE is terminating normally.

PRC_MAINT_BACKUPDB: ERROR EXECUTING DATABASE BACKUP STATEMENT

The statement has been terminated."

THis is the exact message I get when trying to abckup my database from host computer.

Awesome; thank you!

We are almost there!

My contact synced, but my calendar still did not merge. SOme activities are there while others are not. IT's weird.

ANy idea why/how calendars can merge effectively?

Re: Merging 2 databases into ONE!

There is a known issue with importing Activities from another ACT! database ... it's discussed in this LinkedIN ACT! Fanatics thread: http://lnkd.in/ksacPh

Sage have been working on a hotfix for it for some months ... not released yet

You might join that group and add a post to that thread to see how they are going ... this will also mean you'll be notified when they have the fix :-)
