Menu bar missing

My menu bar is missing, as is part of the top of the icons (see screenshot - I have blurred out the database name).

 

The minimise, maximise and close items at top right don't work either.

 

When I try clicking on them or anywhere in the top bar (where it says Act! Pro) or in the white space where the menu should be it is as though they are see through or not there at all and I am clicking on whatever program is running in the window behind (which then appears as though I am selecting it).

 

Restarting Act! and restarting the computer do not assist.  This is a permanent issue.

 

I believe I am running Act! Pro v17.x.  I can't check as no menu.

 

If anyone has any ideas how to fix this I would be grateful to hear them.

Hi Peter

 

Normally I would suggest resetting your menu and toolbars, however as you can not even see or click on the tools menu you will not be able to do this.

 

It could possibly be a damaged installation or compatibility issue.

What Windows OS are you running?
Was Act originally working on this OS?

Have you tried running Act as administrator? - right click on the Act icon and select run as administrator.
Do you have the same issues when you open the Demo database?

 

If you have the same issue with the Demo database I would look at reinstalling the software.

 

If not it could be damaged preferences but I have never seen this cause issues with the menu. However its easy to reset them and worth a try.
