Maximum number of contacts in ACT Premium 2012

Hi

Does anyone know what the maximum number of contacts ACT! Premium 2012 can have?

Is ACT able to handle more than 120,000 contacts and associated records or would other contact management software be better?

Thanks

Act isn't limited by the number of contacts in the database, in fact the application itself has no limits whatsoever. The only limiting factor is the back end SQL database, the free version of SQL Server has a 10 gigabyte limit, contacts by themselves consume very little space depending upon the how many activities/histories are associated with them. The free express version ships with the product, but you can upgrade to the standard version of SQL which has no limits.

Thanks for that.

I read that 'ACT! Premium 2012 uses Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express which limits database size to 4GB'.  Should that be 10GB?

Yes - the original release of SQL Server 2008 Express had a 4 GB limit; the R2 version increased to 10 GB. ACT! 2012 uses the R2 release.

And of course, if you needed to go beyond that, you could switch to using a SQL Server Standard license...
