Mass deleting contacts based on external list of emails (not one by one)

Hi all,

Please can someone tell me a way to delete a lot of contacts based on an external lost of emails?

I was thinking maybe a way of searching for multiple contacts at once then mass deleting or perhaps a way to export all contacts to excel so I can cross reference against the list then upload the amended list?

A step by step would be hugely appreciated as I'm new to the system.

Thanks in advance.

Hopefully the email address in your list matches the email address in Act, or the list contains contact names that matches.  In any event, create a new field in Act somewhere along the line of "delete me" and add that column to your import file.  Add a value to the "delete me" column for all rows such as "yes."  Import the list into Act making sure you set the duplicate checking criteria to reflect the matching fields in your list and Act database.  When you import the new field will populate; do a look up of that field and you will have a list of the contacts that you can now globally delete.

How do I create custom fields in Act! Is it automatic when I upload the import?
Thank you!
