Mapping to database stored on NAS

I have a NAS with a share drive that I can access/map through https.  The NAS is running 24/7 and is connected to my router.

1. Can I open the database if it is stored on this drive and mapped with WebDAV, remotely?

2.  Can two people, both with ACT! licenses "share" this database?   This is a 2 person team who needs to be able to update the same database.

I am trying to avoid VPN because both users are mobile and there is not a server running at the home office, just the NAS.

Re: Mapping to database stored on NAS

1. No, ACT! must be installed and the database stored on a local drive.

2. See the answer to 1. Consider synchronization via something like Hamachi with the one workstation hosting the publisher database.
