Mailing label templates cannot be opened

ACT! Pro 2013

 

I'm trying to print a christmas list onto mailing labels. Every time I try to print and select an Avery label template I get an error. "Report could not be opened by Act.". I'm not a database engineer nor do I want to be. This is why I bought Act. Wondering why the product I paid for doesn't work as advertised and how to fix it.

More information needed. What are the specific steps you take to run the labels?

Created a lookup of the group list. Highlighted this list. Clicked the Print command. Chose label. Get a list of Avery templates. Highlighted the correct template. Click print. Get error message "The report can not be opened by Act!." Tried several different templates. Same results. 

 

Even tried to create a new report to create the labels and got more error messages when I tried to insert fields and gave up on that.

You need to be more precise about the steps. You  say you create a lookup from the group list, what so you mean and what are the exact steps. You say you clidk on the print command, where, what steps? Which label do you choose? Please layout your steps in a list 1, 2. 3. etc.

Wow. Really? There really is only one way I could do these things.

 

1. Open up Group tab

2. Selected "Christmas List" group

3. Highlighted all names in group list

4. Right clicked on the highlighted list

5. Selected "Create Lookup"

6. Pane reverts from Group View to Contact List View

7. Checked to be sure all contacts in list are still highlighted

8. Clicked on File Tab

9. Selected Print command

10. Print dialogue opens

11. Select Labels

12. Select Avery 5161 template

13. Click "Print" button on the lower right corner of the dialogue window

14. Get error message "The report can not be opened by ACT!."

 

Tried every lable template and all returned same error message.

At this point it would appear that the ACT! report editor has been damaged, I would try ininstalling and then reinstalling the ACT! program.
