Mail Merge errors, Add-ins inoperative in Word

Act 2008 with Office 2007.  I have uninstalled and installed both software several times.  I have 2 Gig memory and a 250 Gig disk
 
1) Mail Merge fields that are blank show on the merged documents as

[[ACTFIELD_DELETE_ME]]

 

2) Add- ins in word are not available. On the Act Drop down menu in Word the drop down shows (other...).

The Addins show on the list of addins under "Word Options".  Sometimes they show enabled and sometimes not.  Enabling them is a often difficult.  If the boxes are not checked on the addins even checking them does not activate them always.  If they do activate and if the Act drop down shows the list of Act options (in Word) it goes away as fast as it came in the net time Word is used.

 

No history entry is made when a letter or email is sent.  There is no dialogue box asking, for that option.

Was this issue ever resolved? I am having the same problems.

In Office 2007, Detect & Repair is now Office Diagnostics
 
2. See if fixing Office as above allows the plug-ins to work next time. If not, post back here
