"Lookup by example" is broken in ACT! 2010 if you have any decimal fields in your layout. Searches return no results. This has been acknowledged in the Knowledge Base as a bug. The suggested workaround, to remove any decimal fields from your layout, obviously isn't much of a workaround as some of my necessary fields are now no longer available for use.
Is this going to be fixed in the next service pack?

Hey Dave.... yes, I have several decimal fields for similar types of data. It's just insane that having a standard ACT! field type in your ACT! layout breaks the search functionality, and they haven't patched it yet.

What about using the Advanced Query function?
You can save frequently used queries and add them to the
Lookup menu or
View Icon bars
