Look what it takes to import a file!

Heres what it takes to import a file from outlook:


Sorry MDiercks, the topic got a little side tracked.


I've seen manually deleting ACT! preferences resolve this error.

  1. Close ACT!
  2. Navigate to the following location:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<User_Name>\Application Data\ACT\ACT for Windows 9
        For Vista: C:\Users\<User_Name>\AppData\Roaming\ACT\ACT for Windows 9
  3. Right-click the preferencesBak.XML file and then click Rename from the Shortcut menu, and then rename this file to preferencesBak.old.
    Note: ACT! 2007 901 Hotfix 3 includes additional preferencesBak.XML files that need to be renamed: preferencesBak3.xml, preferencesBak6.xml, preferencesBak9.xml
  4. Open the Preferences folder and rename USPreferences206.xml and USPrefrences208.xml.old

This is not what it takes to import from Outlook.  These steps only need to be taken if you're having an issue with it.


The steps that you've copied from here are just deleting preference files for ACT!.  I wrote out the longer way to do it to ensure they were deleted.
