Locked Out

I apparently locked out my database and cannot even access it to get to the tool bar to unlock it.  What can I do to unlock it.  I am the only one that uses this database.

Re: Locked Out

What version of ACT! (the full build from Help | About)?

What message do you get that it's locked?

Re: Locked Out

It just updtaed yesterday to 2008 Version 10.0 and the message just says an administrator has locked this database, try back later.

Re: Locked Out

Do you have a one user license but have created an additional user recently in the database?

Re: Locked Out

Try there:

Delete the database PAD file

Open ACT!

File | Open

Change File Type to ADF

Open the database via the ADF file

Does that work?

Re: Locked Out

No, I just have a one user license.  It just told me that it had an updated version 10.0 and I think when it updated the one database I must have hit a button incorrectly.  There are 3 databases I maintain and the other 2 updated as well and I can access them with no problem.

Re: Locked Out

I cannot even get to file to open it for that database.  The other 2 databases pull up fine.  It happened when it updated to version 10.0 two days ago.

Re: Locked Out

Can you give us the exact error message?  If its saying the database is locked, then you can go into actdiag and unlock the database.

- Go to Start and select Run.  Type in actdiag and click Ok.

- When ACT! Diagnostics appear, select Databases then Database List.

- Find the database in question and select it.

- Then right click and select Unlock Database.
