For some reason I need to be signed in as Local Admin to do a backup while the other two people who use ACT do not.
Does anyone have any idea why this is? Which settings should I look at to change this?

Performing a backup does require admin rights on the local machine. There may be a difference in the way your and the other users profiles are setup. You may need to create a new profile for yourself or modify yours to match the other users.
Note: Effective 6/1/13, Sage no longers provides support for the Act! software. This is now provided by Swiftpage.
