Issue with calling features

I'm using Act! Pro Version 18.0.501.0, Update 6 on Windows 7 and would like to set up a way to auto dial clients but have been unable.

 

When selecting the "phone contact" option from the contacts tab I get a pop up box saying that the call cannot be made.

 

The Dialer Preferences tab in the communication section of the preferences window gives a pop-up box which has the option "use dialer" but it is greyed out and I am unable to select it.

 

Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

Do you have a TAPI phone plugged in to your computer? The Act! dialer requires this...
To test this, try testing with the Windows Dialer, as per: http://kb.act.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/18371

Skype Plugin for ACT!
Universal Dialer Plugin for ACT!

 

I use the Universal Voip Auto Dialer Plugin with my Magic Jacks. I can use headsets or desktop phone.

The addon will enable that ACT! Dialer button -- or add a modem to your pc so the act! dialer can go thru that?

 

Also you may want to insure your ACT! 18 is up to date reference
